Pigeon proofing for Bedford Council

Bird Control Project – Bedford Bus Station

Delivered by PPSP Ltd – Trusted Specialists in Bird Proofing & Solar Protection

PPSP Ltd was appointed by Bedford Borough Council to deliver a complete bird-control solution at Bedford Bus Station, a busy public transport hub that had long experienced issues with pigeons roosting on building ledges, canopies, and sheltered areas. The council required a trusted, experienced contractor capable of providing long-term, humane, and low-maintenance protection — and PPSP Ltd was selected for our proven expertise.

Scope of Work

✔ Bird Netting Installation

We installed high-grade, UV-stable bird netting across key structural areas of the bus station, including roof sections, exposed framework and sheltered loading zones. The netting was tensioned using stainless-steel fixings to ensure durability and reliability in all weather conditions.
This prevented pigeons from gaining access to popular roosting sites and significantly reduced mess and maintenance issues for transport staff.

✔ Bird Spikes on Ledges & Architectural Features

To protect narrow ledges, signage, lighting beams, and entrance structures, we fitted professional stainless-steel bird spikes.
These discreet spikes provide a long-term deterrent without altering the appearance of the building, and they block birds from landing in key problem spots.

✔ Solar Panel Proofing Work

Where the bus station’s solar installations were affected by nesting activity, PPSP Ltd provided full solar-panel pigeon-proofing.
We fitted premium mesh systems around the perimeter of the panels, preventing birds from sheltering underneath where they can cause damage to wiring and reduce panel efficiency.
